Tara Burgess
Tara Burgess is a graduate intern currently pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Johnson University. She graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2021 with a bachelor’s in Psychology. Her desire to help and care for others has made her passionate about the therapeutic relationship and counseling profession.
Her treatment approach utilizes cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, and emotionally focused techniques. Additionally, she integrates play and art therapies into treatment interventions, but primarily tailors her approach to best fit her client’s needs. She sees clients of all ages, but focuses on children between the ages of 4 and 10 who are struggling with phase of life issues, peer relationships, emotional regulation, behavioral and school issues, divorce, grief, and much more.
Her goal is to build a respectful, safe, and welcoming environment during her time with her clients. She respects and admires each client’s strength in their journey of healing and is grateful to walk alongside them.
