Mary Ridenour, LPC-MHSP, NCC                                       Internship Program Director

Hello!  Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Mary Ridenour and I am a licensed professional counselor, mental health service provider, and nationally certified counselor.  I have been practicing in various mental health roles since 2014 and moved into private practice in 2019. I work very well with those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, phase of life issues, and symptoms of trauma.

I truly love doing individual therapy, but I am now shifting my focus towards working with couples to create loving and lasting relationships.  Often, the relationship pitfalls we find ourselves in were modeled for us by our own parents or are a result of disruptive issues that sprouted during childhood.  My goal is to help couples heal their relationships by working through these issues, strengthen communication, manage conflict, create shared meaning, and enhance friendship.

All of my work is trauma-informed and I am currently undergoing training to become a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist.  My work is client-centered, but I pull techniques and interventions from other therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.

Follow me on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/MaryRidenourLPC/ where I post multiple times a week about mental health related topics, such as relationships, communication, self-care, boundaries, and much more. If there are any topics you are curious about or want more information on, you can send me a personal message and your topic may be chosen to be featured in an up-coming monthly deep-dive.

I am also the director of our internship program. If you are in graduate school working to become a mental health counselor and need a practicum or internship placement, feel free to email info@lifeconnectionsknox.com. I am open to answer any questions about our intern program and am available to schedule interviews for placement.

We all have times in our lives where the world feels like it is too much.  I am here to give you guidance and a safe space to explore these difficult issues. You have the power to live the life you want, and it is my goal to help you see that too!
